TLC Timely Tips:
Submit an Academic Status Report

Hello Spring Session A and C Instructors in SOLS!

We hope the start of the semester is going smoothly! As many of you have experienced, the first few weeks are a critical time to identify students that are not participating in the course and are therefore at risk of dropping, withdrawing, or receiving an "E" grade. Academic Status Reports (ASRs) deliver timely feedback from faculty to students, and can connect students to their advisor through proactive outreach. This progress-report tool also alerts students directly on their myASU page, encouraging them to communicate challenges, request support, and re-engage in the course while there is still time to improve their standing.

The Office of the University Provost strongly encourages instructors to submit ASRs. Instructors teaching 100- and 200-level courses should post their first ASRs by:

  • Session A: Sunday, February 8th
  • Session C: Sunday, February 15th

The Faculty Guide on ASRs shares the process for completing ASRs, tips for efficiently using ASRs in large enrollment courses, and sample syllabus language so students know that they may receive notifications about an ASR. Instructors may also email [email protected] with any ASR-system questions or additional support.

Sincerely,
The Teaching and Learning Center team
